Copies of the list of electors to candidates
Legislative Assembly
Once nominated, Legislative Assembly candidates may request an electronic list of electors enrolled for the district for which they are a candidate by completing the SE.220 Candidate request for electronic roll form. The completed request should be sent to enrolmentsupport@elections.nsw.gov.au.
The list of electors will contain the name and address of electors – the postal address where provided – and other particulars of electors entitled to vote in the election, but it will not contain the address of any silent elector.
Privacy and security of enrolment information
Candidates must protect the security and privacy of any enrolment information, as it contains electors’ personal information. Before being provided with a list of electors, candidates will be required to provide the Electoral Commissioner with an undertaking that they have adequate systems and procedures to preserve the security of that information, by completing the form SE.220A Undertaking to the NSW Electoral Commissioner for the provision of enrolment information.
It is an offence for a candidate to use the list of electors other than for a permitted purpose in connection with their candidacy at the election. It is also an offence to disclose the list of electors other than for a permitted purpose, or to use the information for a commercial purpose, or to sell or offer the information for sale. There are significant penalties for candidates or others using a list of electors for any reason other than a permitted purpose.
