Withdrawing the appointment of an agent
If an appointed agent dies, resigns or their appointment is revoked, the political party, associated entity or third-party campaigner that appointed the agent must notify the Electoral Commission within 30 days. In the case of a party, it must appoint a new agent within 30 days.
To withdraw the appointment of an agent, you must have access to Funding and Disclosure Online. Request access if you don’t yet have access, or login. Follow the step-by-step instructions on how to complete the process.
For the withdrawal of appointment of a party agent, the online form must be completed and submitted by the party agent, registered officer, deputy registered officer or secretary of the party.
For the withdrawal of appointment of an official agent, the online form must be completed and submitted by the official agent, or an authorised person of the associated entity or third-party campaigner, or if the third-party campaigner is an individual, by the individual.
If the form is completed by the appointed agent, the agent can only withdraw their appointment if resigning.
If the withdrawal of the appointment is approved by the NSW Electoral Commission, the public register will be updated to show the withdrawal of the appointment. The NSW Electoral Commission is required to publish the agent registers.
For any time while a registered party does not have an appointed party agent, the registered officer of the party is the party agent. For any time while a third-party campaigner or associated entity does not have an appointed official agent, the NSW Electoral Commission may designate a person to be the official agent.
