Local government (local council) elections
If you are interstate or overseas on election day for a local council election, you can:
- vote before election day in your council area or ward
- postal vote.
Please note: You cannot vote in person outside of your council area or ward for local council elections.
State elections
If you are interstate or overseas on election day for a state election, you can:
- vote in person before election day at any early voting centre in NSW, or at an early voting centre in each state and territory capital city – locations are published closer to each election
- postal vote.
Postal voting
For any election, we encourage you to apply as early as possible during the application period to ensure your postal vote is sent to you as soon as possible.
If you are already a registered general postal voter, you do not need to complete a postal vote application.
