Nominations
Close of roll
To be eligible to nominate as a candidate or vote for a Region, a person must be a voting member of a Local Aboriginal Land Council within the Region, as at Monday, 6 December 2023.
Nominations
Nominations open on Tuesday, 2 January 2024 and close at 12 noon Tuesday, 30 January 2024. No late nominations will be accepted.
To nominate for the election, the following forms must be completed and lodged with the NSW Electoral Commission and nomination deposit received no later than 12 noon, Tuesday, 30 January 2024:

The nomination form must be accompanied by a deposit of $50 in the form of cash, bank cheque or credit union or building society cheque. The $50 nomination deposit can also be deposited directly into the NSW Electoral Commission bank account at any Westpac branch prior to the close of nominations at 12 noon Tuesday, 30 January 2024. Personal cheques, BPay, credit card and EFTPOS are not acceptable. Further details are available on the nomination form.
Candidates are encouraged to submit their nomination as early as possible so that if there is a problem the candidate will have time to fix it. If a defect in the nomination is not corrected by 12 noon Tuesday, 30 January 2024 then the nomination will be rejected.
All candidates are required to sign a statutory declaration declaring that they are NOT disqualified from holding office. There are penalties for making false declarations.
Note: in certain circumstances, the Registrar of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act can make determinations that a person is not disqualified. Please refer to the Eligibility Checks Fact Sheet and Consent Form available from the Office of Registrar’s website.
The candidate bio form will be used by the NSW Electoral Commission to provide to the NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) who will publish this form on the NSWALC website. Attachments will not be accepted. No changes can be made after the close of nominations at 12 noon on Tuesday, 30 January 2024.

Ballot paper draw
The ballot paper draw will be conducted from 2pm Wednesday, 31 January 2024. Ballot paper draws are public events and candidates are invited to attend.
The ballot paper draw will be streamed live and available to view.
