2024 Mid-Western Regional Council by-election

A by-election for Mid-Western Regional Council must be held following the resignation of a sitting councillor.

The 2024 Mid-Western Regional Council by-election will be held on Saturday, 7 December 2024. We are looking for people to work at this election, including people who have never worked at an election before. Expressions of interest are now open.

Voters at this election can choose to vote:

• via post
• in person at an early voting centre
• in person on election day at our voting centres.

You must vote only once. 

Australians aged 18 and over are required to enrol and vote.

No interstate voting 

As electors cannot vote outside their council area or ward, the NSW Electoral Commission is not providing interstate voting. Electors who will be travelling and unable to attend to vote in their area can postal vote

If you are eligible to vote in New South Wales and your enrolled address is in the Mid-Western council area, you must vote in this by-election.

If you are not enrolled in or are not eligible to be enrolled in the Mid-Western council area, you cannot vote in this by-election.

• pre-poll (early voting) at a pre-poll venue*
• voting in person at a polling place on election day
• postal voting*
• telephone assisted voting for electors who are blind or have low vision.*

You must vote and complete your postal vote certificate envelope by 6pm Saturday, 7 December 2024 (election day).

Completed postal ballot papers must be received by the NSW Electoral Commission no later than 6pm Friday, 20 December 2024.

General postal voters will automatically receive ballot papers in the mail for this election.

Timeline

Monday, 11 November 2024: commence distribution of postal vote packs.

Monday, 2 December 2024: receipt of postal vote applications close at 5pm.

Saturday, 7 December 2024: vote and complete your postal vote certificate by 6pm.

Friday, 20 December 2024: completed postal votes must be received by 6pm.
