2024 Pittwater State by-election

The Speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly, the Hon. Greg Piper MP, announced on Monday, 2 September 2024 that a by-election will be held for the electoral district of Pittwater. 

The Speaker has advised the Acting Electoral Commissioner for NSW of his intention to issue the writ for the by-election on Friday, 27 September 2024 and that the particulars of the writ will be as follows:

Date of the writ: Friday, 27 September 2024

Day nominations open: Friday, 27 September 2024

Day on which nominations close: Thursday, 3 October 2024

Early voting opens: Saturday, 12 October 2024

Election day: Saturday, 19 October 2024

Return of the writ: Friday, 8 November 2024

If you are eligible to vote in New South Wales and live in the electoral district of Pittwater, you must vote in this by-election. 

Check your enrolment and state electoral district details.

If you are not enrolled in or are not eligible to be enrolled in the electoral district of Pittwater, you cannot vote in this by-election.

Voting options for this by-election will include:

• early voting at an early voting centre
• voting in person at a voting centre on election day
• postal voting
• telephone assisted voting for electors who are blind or have low vision
• interstate voting at specified interstate venues.

More information will be provided about each voting option shortly.

Postal vote applications open Monday, 16 September 2024.

You must vote and complete your postal vote certificate envelope by 6pm Saturday, 19 October 2024 (election day).

Completed postal ballot papers must be received by the NSW Electoral Commission no later than 6pm Friday, 1 November 2024.

Registered General Postal Voters will have their pack sent automatically to their nominated address, week commencing Monday, 7 October 2024 and do not need to apply for a postal vote.

Nominations for the Pittwater State by-election must be lodged from Friday, 27 September 2024 to 12 noon Thursday, 3 October 2024. Late nominations will not be accepted.
