• The NSW Local Government elections is on Saturday, 14 September 2024. Remember to check your enrolment details and to vote.
• Voting is compulsory.
• If you can't make it to a voting centre on election day, you may be eligible to vote early in-person at an early voting centre or vote by post.
• Use our ‘Find my electorate’ tool to find out where to vote. Type in your enrolled address in the search bar for information on early voting and election day voting centres, including location and opening hours.
• Staff at early voting and election day voting centre are there to help you. Many voting centres are also staffed by bilingual election officials. These officials will be wearing stickers with the language(s) they speak.
• You can take a friend, family member or support worker with you if you need help to vote, or you can ask an election official.
• Access information in 26 community languages and Auslan about how to vote at the 2024 Local Government elections.
• You can download and share stakeholder kits with your community. 

• Share the resources available on this page with your community and networks.
• Include our resources and suggested newsletter content in your own communications.
• Post and share our assets and information on your social media platforms.
• Distribute fact sheets and other printable content in your organisation or at your community centre.

We offer opportunities to work at the 2024 NSW Local Government elections. Work is available on election day and throughout the election period. Applications are encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and people who speak a language other than English.

All applications are via the expression of interest online form.

Enrolling and voting is compulsory if you are 18 years and over. Remember to check if your enrolment is up to date. Before you get ready to vote, find out which council you are enrolled in by using the search tool on the NSW Electoral Commission’s website.

To vote in person on election day, visit a polling place between 8am and 6pm on Saturday, 14 September 2024. If you are unable to vote in person on election day, you can vote early in person at a pre-poll location. You can also vote by post, if eligible. If you are blind or have low vision, you can vote by telephone.

For people with disability, there are a number of services provided to make it easier to vote during the 2024 NSW Local Government elections. 

Information about the accessibility of each polling place is available on the NSW Electoral Commission’s website:

• enter your enrolled address
• click on the name of your council or ward in the search results
• select a location on the map to view the venue name, accessibility features, opening hours and to get directions.

If you need help accessing a polling place or casting your vote, you can ask election staff or you can bring a friend or family member or your support worker.

There are also maxi pens and magnifying sheets available at voting centres.

People with disability are also eligible to use early voting options, including voting early at a pre-poll location and postal voting. People who are blind or have low vision can vote by telephone.

The NSW Electoral Commission is recruiting more than 20,000 people across NSW to help deliver the 2024 NSW Local Government elections on Saturday, 14 September 2024.

Jobs are available across NSW and no experience is needed.

Applications are encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and people who speak a language other than English.
