Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council was established on 12 May 2016. It holds 8,676^ electors and occupies an area of 3,982 square kilometres. This is an undivided council served by nine councillors including a Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council was formerly known as Gundagai Council and was renamed in 2016.
