Enrol to vote
The 2024 NSW Local Government elections will be held on Saturday, 14 September 2024.
Residents of New South Wales
You must enrol to vote if you are an Australian citizen aged 18 years or older and have lived in NSW for at least one month.
To update your enrolment details online, or to download an enrolment form, visit the Australian Electoral Commission website aec.gov.au or call 13 23 26.
All voters on the NSW electoral roll as at 6pm Monday, 5 August 2024 will be included on the residential roll for the election. Voting is compulsory.
Non-residential rolls of owners, occupiers and ratepaying lessees of rateable land in NSW
If you are an owner, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land that is not your primary residence, you or a nominee may be entitled to be enrolled on the roll of non-residential owners of rateable land or the roll of occupiers and rate-paying lessees for this election.
Details of the eligibility criteria and enrolment forms may be obtained from your council’s website.
The enrolment form must be completed and lodged with the relevant council by 6pm Monday, 5 August 2024.
If you were on a non-residential roll for the previous election, or if you need to update your details, contact the council to check that your enrolment is still current.
