Privacy and Collection Statement FAQs

The NSW Electoral Commission is surveying election participants (including electors, candidates, political parties, election staff) following the 2024 NSW Local Government elections. The results of this research will be used by the NSW Electoral Commission to evaluate the administration of the elections and the services provided. Survey responses provide actionable insights to: increase understanding and trust in democratic processes; improve election services and experiences; and support future participation in democracy.

Participation in this survey is voluntary and there are no consequences for you should you choose not to participate. However, your feedback is valued, and you are encouraged to have your say.

This survey collects your opinions on a range of topics in relation to your experience at the 2024 NSW Local Government elections and the services provided by the NSW Electoral Commission. If you include any personal information in your response, this will be retained as part of your survey response.

The information you provide will be used for research and reporting purposes by the NSW Electoral Commission and will inform continuous improvement initiatives. The independent research report will be published on the NSW Electoral Commission’s website. 

Yes. For reporting purposes, the responses will be summarised in an anonymous, de-identified and aggregated form. Any personal information you provide will remain confidential and will not be disclosed to a third party unless required or authorised by or under an Australian law or a court/tribunal order.
