Legislative Assembly
Elections for the Legislative Assembly are known as general elections.
General elections are required to be held every four years although parliament can be dissolved sooner by the Governor. Election day is the fourth Saturday in March.
The Constitution Act 1902 provides that the Legislative Assembly shall consist of 93 members, elected to serve a maximum four year term of parliament. New South Wales is divided into 93 areas called electoral districts. Each member of the Legislative Assembly is elected to represent an electoral district of New South Wales. An electoral district for the Legislative Assembly has an approximate equal number of electors (48,300).
After an election the government is formed by the party or group of parties that has the support of a majority of members in the Legislative Assembly.
The Parliament of NSW website lists the Current Members of the Legislative Assembly.
