Legislative Assembly Nominations
Independent candidates for the Legislative Assembly must submit their nomination form and child-related conduct declaration by 12 noon on nomination day to the returning officer for the district in which they wish to contest.
Registered political parties may submit the nomination forms and child-related conduct declarations for their nominated candidates with the NSWEC by 12 noon on the day before nomination day.
Registered political parties may also nominate their candidates by 12 noon on nomination day with the returning officer for the electoral district in which they wish to contest.
A person must be nominated by:
- The registered officer of a registered party which has endorsed the person for the election
or - At least 15 electors on the roll for the electoral district in which the candidate is standing

Deposits
The nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $250 which must be paid in cash or by cheque drawn by an authorised depost-taking institution. This deposit is returned if the candidate is elected or receives more than 4% of the total first preference votes polled in the district.
