Nominations for the Gwydir Shire Council election to be held next month closed at 12 noon today.

The following three candidates have nominated to contest the by-election:

DIXON, Marilyn

ALLEN, Michael

MCDONALD, Kerry

Electors may view each candidate’s information sheet at www.elections.nsw.gov.au or at the office of the Returning Officer.

Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry reminded voters of early voting options.

“If you cannot get to a polling place on election day you can still make your vote count by casting a pre-poll or postal vote”, said Mr Barry.

Postal vote applications will be accepted up until 5.00pm on Monday, 30 November.

Pre-poll voting is available Monday to Friday, commencing Monday, 23 November and closing at 6.00pm on Friday, 4 December at the Gwydir Shire Council, Bingara Branch Office, 33 Maitland Street, Bingara and Warialda Branch Office, 54 Hope Street Warialda.

Election day is Saturday, 5 December. Voting is compulsory for all residents on the electoral roll.
