Nominations for the Murrumbidgee Shire Council - West Ward by-election to be held next month closed at 12 noon today.

The following four candidates have nominated to contest the by-election:

Ron CLARKE

Carolyn DeMAMIEL

Thomas RAWSON

Gordon BEAUMONT

Electors may view each candidate’s information sheet at www.elections.nsw.gov.au or at the office of the Returning Officer.

Pre-poll and Postal voting

Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry reminded voters of early voting options.

“If you cannot get to a polling place on election day you can still make your vote count by casting a pre-poll or postal vote”, said Mr Barry.

Postal vote applications will be accepted up until 5.00pm on Monday, 4 May.

Pre-poll voting is available Monday to Friday, commencing Monday, 27 April and closing at 6.00pm on Friday, 8 May, at the Murrumbidgee Shire Council Coleambally office, 39 Brolga Place, Coleambally and the Darlington Point office, 21 Carrington Street, Darlington Point.

Election day is Saturday, 9 May. Voting is compulsory for all residents on the electoral roll.
