Nominations for the Gwydir Shire Council by-election to be held Saturday, 11 July closed at 12 noon yesterday.

The following four candidates have nominated to contest the vacant position on the council.

Marilyn DIXON

Laureen HALL

John COULTON

Ian GRIEVE

Electors may view each candidate’s information sheet at www.elections.nsw.gov.au or at the office of the Returning Officer.

Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry reminded voters of early voting options.

“If you cannot get to a polling place on election day you can still make your vote count by casting a pre-poll or postal vote”, said Mr Barry.

Postal vote applications will be accepted up until 5.00pm on Monday, 6 July.

Pre-poll voting is available Monday to Friday, commencing Monday, 29 June and closing at 6.00pm on Friday, 10 July, at the Gwydir Shire Council,

Warialda Branch Office, 54 Hope Street, Warialda, and

Bingara Branch Office, 33 Maitland Street, Bingara.

Election day is Saturday, 11 July, between 8am and 6pm. Voting is compulsory for all residents on the electoral roll.
