Port Macquarie By-Election roll closing

25 August 2008

Voters in the NSW State District of Port Macquarie are advised that the electoral roll will close at 6.00pm this Friday, 29 August.

A by-election for the Legislative Assembly seat will be held on Saturday, 18 October to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of the local Member of Parliament.

“To be eligible to vote, electors must be correctly enrolled. People who have changed their address recently will need to update enrolment details, as will residents who have turned 18 or recently become an Australian citizen,” said NSW Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry.

“Residents in the City of Taree who live within the State seat will not need to update their details if they recently did so for the 2008 local government elections.”

Voters can check their enrolment status online at www.elections.nsw.gov.au and download a form if they need to update their information. They can also call 1300 135 736.
